What accountability is and why it matters

"Accountability sounds grim. No one likes the idea of putting our work in front of another person and waiting for their criticisms. In the church where [our Directors]... both worshipped in Old Trafford [Manchester}, I suggested that the small group leaders should meet with the church leaders to discuss how their groups were progressing. The leadership in the church agreed.

But when I used the term ’accountability’ in the meeting with the small group leaders, they immediately shut down and the plan came to nothing. But accountability, when done well, is a huge help..."
