Autumn 2019 saw 2 baptism services at the Antioch Network Manchester, 1 which was at Oldhams Church in Bolton, and 1 which was on 17th September at Manchester Alliance Chinese Church, and involved 2 young men who are part of E247 Church in Rusholme.
Antioch churches set out to obey the Great Commission as found in Matthew's Gospel, Chapter 28, in which Jesus said,
Therefore go and make disciples of all the nations, baptising them in the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey all my commands"
The 2 man, not named for their privacy's sake, both shared why they were taking this step as followers of Jesus, as E247 gathered with other Christians from Manchester Alliance Chinese Church as well as Rev John Brett, who leads Hope Church Longsight.
E247 Pastor Lucho, said of this special baptism service:
To see them getting baptised is a real privilege, an answer to our prayers and great encouragement for more to come”
The Diverse side of the Antioch Network brings together multiple nationalities and language groups, including speakers of Arabic, Kurdish, Farsi, Romanian, English and Cantonese. The Estate side of the network reaches into more traditionally white housing estates across Manchester and Bolton, but with a view to start 2 new churches in Rochdale, 1 diverse and 1 estate church, during 2020.
